Freya You have Handles

This is my third image of my Freya and Ziya Beach Sequence, the last one being “Learning to Surf”.

This is actually not a completed version of this. I actually sketched in more characters in the background but in a lot of ways I found them really distracting and take way from the main point. I also spent a lot of time working on the background of which I am really happy with so I am posting this one as is. Maybe when I have time I will draw in the other characters and make the necessary adjustments.

Trying to teach Ziya to surf really wasn’t going to work out. She had no legs after all; she was just all smoke from the waist down. Freya realized this of course but figured maybe Ziya would get some enjoyment out of it. But unfortunately the idea of surfing just seemed to terrify her. After a few short runs Freya could tell that she wasn’t enjoying herself.

“Not your cup of tea” asked Freya as she walked across the waves and onto the beach.

“It’s just really… really… scary.” Replied Ziya with a sign of relief “That doesn’t seem so bad though” said Ziya as she pointing to a small boy on a belly board surfing a small wave close to shore.

“Oh Yeah Belly Boarding. It’s ok but gets kind of boring after a while.”

“Can’t we try that?” asked Ziya excitedly

“Maybe if you could find a board” replied Freya

“Do we really need a board said Ziya, that kid over there is just using an inflatable toy.” said with a grin Ziya pointing to another kid.

Freya knew where this was going and had to act fast.

“Yeah… but….” Said Freya as she paused to examine the kids raft… “That toy has Handles!” Said Freya

“You can’t belly board on an inflatable toy without a handles.”

“Nope, it’s not safe” Said Freya.

“Oh” said Ziya with a sound of deep disappointment in her voice. “Wait do you have handles Freya?” ask Ziya as gray piece of plastic caught her eye, which had been partially hidden behind Freya’s hair.

“What no… of course not… I mean-” said Freya as her face turned flush.

Oh Crap thought Freya to herself, she didn’t have handles did she? She had never had any trouble putting on shirts before but she had also never seen her backside.

Suddenly Freya felt a swift pull from behind her left shoulder blades followed by a quick popping sound as a retractable handle popped out. This was then quickly followed by up by a quick pull and pop on her left.  “Hay Freya guesses what! You have Handles!” said Ziya with a grin of Excitement.
